"Annie," he says softly, taking her hands in his. "Just because you don't want to go back is not a reason to run."

"It's more than that. I want to take my people and go somewhere better. Where what we do matters and we get to make choices."

He considers that quietly and then squeezes her hand once.

"I suppose I should pack light, then."

She pulls him in tight. She had been so afraid--of what she isn't sure. She knew that whatever else happens, they would go together.

"I don't know when we're going for sure. Have to get the boat and see if the Scar will power it, that's all I know."

He doesn't know how well it will work, either. All he knows is that she needs him to be there. And even though he doesn't have a high hope that it will work, he has to go with her. Wherever they go.

"That's enough for now. You don't have to know everything. Now. You should be getting ready for work, shouldn't you?" His voice is lightly teasing.
