Godric loves Dancy, which is the only thing she knows about her, and it's all she does need to know to want her there. "Yeah. 'Course. Does she like parties? I've never even seen her around."
"I'm not sure," Steve has to admit. "But I think she might surprise us. She's a lot more outgoing than I think she lets on. And she's pretty fearless." Not that parties are frightening, but where he might want to assume she might find one overwhelming, he has a feeling she absolutely won't.
"I'll see if she's got any ideas or if she wants to help us set up. But otherwise, she's a guest, like everyone else." He won't make her do work, simply let her if she wants to.
Which sort of leads to, "Where should we have it?" The Enclosure is standard, which they can manage if a warden is willing to let them in to set up.
"Let's have it on a cliffside over the ocean. Nighttime, a million stars, a big moon. Lanterns--those paper kind, you know?" She's quick with parties, easily adaptable but with a core idea already.
"Yeah, that sounds really nice." He's never been to a party like that, but he can picture it. It sounds beautiful. And like something Godric would like.
"I guess refreshments might be a little more challenging... we can, uh, keep it light? And maybe Connor could work some of his magic - make a cupcake or something for Godric, instead of a whole cake?"
"We'd never fit enough candles on a cupcake," she jokes. "No, seriously, that's a really good idea. Connor would love it. Oh! So no dancing. But music for sure."
"That's such a good idea! I actually," and she doesn't know why she's embarrassed by this, except she never has done research before in her life. "I looked up some music from as far back as I could. Ancient Egypt."
Well, it's definitely nothing to be embarrassed about. "Wow - really?" Steve doesn't even know what that would sound like - except he imagines it's probably not like the music in all those old movies, which is about as close as he can get. "I guess the library really does have it all. I say it counts."
She nods and thinks about the time he taught her to dance. "I think he likes music from the 30's. The 40's. You could pick some good stuff from then, right?"
"Yeah - yeah, sure. That's the stuff I grew up with." So he could definitely pick some choice songs, whether there's dancing or not. "At least, up to the first half of the 40s," he amends, with a crooked smile. "I could make a list, or I can get one of the players from the library, if you want me to."
He is more than happy to do all the legwork, if Annie just wants to be the idea girl. She's got lots of good ones.
"Oh! We've got one I can bring, we use it sometimes when we wanna just chill out. Hey, what kind of present are you gonna get him? I think I'm going to make him a drawing. Of something." Something he hasn't seen before, if she can think of it.
"I - have no idea," Steve has to admit, maybe sounding the tiniest bit dismayed. He can't bake Godric something, and he doesn't have anything worth giving him. Plus, he's perpetually running low on art supplies... Ellie would probably help him out with that, but he doesn't want to show up Annie, either. And he can't sing or play anything worth shit. "I guess it's good I've got a few days to think about it, at least."
"If you want we could go in on one together. Make him a painting together. My style's kind of...uh, street chic? You know the graffiti on some walls? That's my vibe." And it's not exactly Godric's.
Steve is both relieved and admittedly a little unsure at the suggestion, just because, "It's your gift, though. I don't want to... it's okay if you want to give him something just from you."
She shakes her head. "It's totally up to you, I don't want to step on your idea or make you feel like you have to do one with me because you don't. I just thought it might look cool to have both our styles together, y'know?"
"Can't step on an idea I don't have," Steve assures her. "I mean - I'd like to do one with you. If you think he'd like it, yeah. And hey - we could include some graffiti. I think he'd like that, too."
"Tasteful graffiti," she promises. "D'you think Dancy will get him something, too? Like, should we have a place for presents or just let people give them to him one on one?"
"We'll invent a new style. It'll be all the rage."
He considers the question, but, "I don't know. Maybe we shouldn't make a big deal out of it. I don't want people to feel obligated, you know?"
Sure, a lot of Godric's friends are wardens and have easier access to what they might need, but still. "I think he'd like it more if people could do it one-on-one. Or two-on-one - if we make something together, we should give it to him together."
"Gotcha. We'll give him our present after the party, when everyone else goes home." Make it a small, discreet gift giving. She's more comfortable with that idea anyway; giving someone something handmade, it's not easy.
"So you can get invitations out? I'll get all the programming into the Enclosure."

And hey, he won't complain if there's no dancing, but, "We should mix it up, then. Different music from every decade we can find it from, you think?"
