He wraps his arms around him tightly, pressing a kiss to her hair. "Are we? For what?" he asks.

"Steve has an idea. We're going to take a boat and give it Scar energy. So we don't have to go back." And hopefully also don't die.

She looks up at him, a book in her hand, paused mid-shelving. "You don't sound surprised."

"No. I spoke with Steve," he tells her. "He mentioned something about it." He leans down to unlace his shoes. "I was hoping to hear it from you."

"He beat me to it," she frowns. "I wanted to take you with me on a last ride and talk to you about it."

She sits cross-legged on the bed and the moment he's settled she nestles up against him. "He thinks we can keep from going back to the Barge. I don't know if I want to stay here forever but I know I don't want to go back there." She can, at least, talk about the Barge without losing her breath or stammering. It's a start, but only one she has because of Steve's alternative.

He considers that quietly and then squeezes her hand once.

She pulls him in tight. She had been so afraid--of what she isn't sure. She knew that whatever else happens, they would go together.

"I don't know when we're going for sure. Have to get the boat and see if the Scar will power it, that's all I know."

He doesn't know how well it will work, either. All he knows is that she needs him to be there. And even though he doesn't have a high hope that it will work, he has to go with her. Wherever they go.

"That's enough for now. You don't have to know everything. Now. You should be getting ready for work, shouldn't you?" His voice is lightly teasing.
